Will County Sheriff’s Police took Crete-area resident Jeremiah J. Hicks Jr., 26, into custody Wednesday on a warrant charging him with theft by deception, forgery, mail fraud and state benefits fraud.

The Illinois Attorney General’s office filed the multiple-felony charge against Hicks, a resident of the 23600 block of S. Oak Court, on Nov. 21. All of the charged incidents allegedly occurred on Jan. 1, 2006 in Will County.

The first felony has a sentencing range of 4-15 years in prison, if convicted; the three others have a sentencing range of 2-5 years in prison, if convicted. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning.

In March 2012 Hicks was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to manufacture-delivery of up to 15 grams of heroin in Steger in May 2011, and to three years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance in Steger in June 2011. He was credited for serving 91 days in jail.

Illinois Department of Corrections records show he was paroled in December 2012 after serving eight months in the Danville Correctional Center.

BEECHER

  • Former Beecher-area resident Alexis Duenas, 22, is charged with burglary and aggravated battery to a peace officer in connection with alleged incidents in the Hunters Chase subdivision. Beecher Police took Duenas, of the 17500 block of Greenbay Avenue in Lansing, into custody Feb. 22. He is scheduled to appear in Will County Circuit court Monday for a preliminary hearing on the charges. Duenas, formerly of the 2500 block of East Offner Road, has been ordered to have no contact with a resident on the 1400 block of Fox Hound Trail and a resident on the 1400 block of Trailside Drive.

CRETE

  • Sauk Village resident Jeremy L. Lewis, 25, of the 22100 block of Brookwood Drive was arrested Sunday by Crete Police on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury collision, failing to give information or render aid and making an improper left turn into oncoming traffic. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning.
  • Crete-area resident Rory A. Helgoth Jr., 24, of the 1100 block of East 263rd Street was arrested by Crete Police Feb. 26 on a charge of DUI. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 8 in Will County Circuit court.
  • Crete resident Patrice E. Giles, 42, of the 1200 block of Washington Street pleaded guilty Feb. 26 to possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, in connection with a September 2013 arrest in Park Forest.
  • A 52-year-old Crete man from the 1500 block of East Street was arrested March 8 by Crete Police for criminal trespass to property. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning. Eastern Will County News isn’t naming the defendant because the charge is a non-DUI misdemeanor.

PEOTONE

  • Bourbonnais resident James R. Pusateri, 37, of the 300 block of Luxford Court South was arrested by Peotone Police Feb. 16 on charges of DUI/alcohol/compound drugs, driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He is scheduled to be arraigned March 26.

SAUK VILLAGE

  • A 71-year-old Sauk Village man from the 2800 block of east 231st Street is scheduled to be arraigned April 3 in Will County Circuit court on traffic charges of driving on the wrong side of a divided highway, never having been issued a license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle in connection with a March 1 traffic stop by Will County Sheriff’s Police. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning. Eastern Will County News isn’t naming the defendant because the charge is a non-DUI misdemeanor.

STEGER

  • Chicago Heights resident Arneika C. Carter, 30, of the 500 block of Shelley Lane was arrested Saturday by Steger Police for being an armed criminal and shooting off a firearm. She is formally charged in Will County Circuit court with being a felon in possession of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning.
  • A 52-year-old Steger man from the 400 block of Dorsetshire Drive was arrested Feb. 28 for domestic battery in connection with an alleged incident at his home. He is scheduled to appear at a pretrial hearing in Will County Circuit court on April 14. Eastern Will County News isn’t naming the defendant because the charge is a non-DUI misdemeanor.
  • A 30-year-old Steger man from the 3700 block of Park Avenue was arrested Saturday by Steger Police for domestic battery in connection with an alleged incident on that block. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning. Eastern Will County News isn’t naming the defendant because the charge is a non-DUI misdemeanor.

UNIVERSITY PARK

  • Chicago resident Jacqueline Candelaria, 38, of the 6200 block of West Peterson Avenue was arrested Feb. 28 by University Park Police on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. She is scheduled to return to Will County Circuit court April 21.
  • A 23-year-old University Park man from the 700 block of Mendocino Court was arrested by University Park Police Sunday for domestic battery. Court hearing information was unavailable this morning. Eastern Will County News isn’t naming the defendant because the charge is a non-DUI misdemeanor.
